Full-Time Farm Manager


Job Description

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Agriculture, the Farm Manager will oversee all aspects of Farm Operations. The fundamental goal is to produce high quality, high yielding raw product for French fry processing. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, a “Can Do” attitude, and the ability to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment. A comprehensive extended benefit plan is offered to all full-time employees.

Post-secondary education in agriculture and/or a minimum of 5 years’ farm management experience in potato production
Experience with budget preparation and management
Experience developing and managing:
Centre pivot irrigation
Land clearing and conversion
Tile drainage
Full understanding of virus, disease and pest management is considered an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Strong negotiation and business skills
Attention to detail and organization, with a focus on process improvement
Willingness to work flexible hours
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all operations, including: seed receiving, cutting, and treating; fertility analysis and planning; crop planting, scouting, and spraying; potato harvesting and storing
Identify and implement management practices to enhance efficiencies
Focus on long-term environmental sustainability, and BMP’s for rotational crops
Manage, source, and negotiate land holdings
Plan and present financial budgets
Drive profitability
Cultivate positive relationships with suppliers and customers in the farming community
