ASSISTANT FARM MANAGER

We are currently seeking a Farm Assistant Manager to join our client’s team in Amherst, Nova Scotia.  Reporting directly to the Seed Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing the cultivation and management of superior quality seed potatoes, contributing to every stage from planting to harvesting and storage.

Key responsibilities include ensuring adherence to farm safety policies and procedures, developing work schedules, as well as coordinating and supervising farm employees – including operators, truck drivers, and laborers. Additionally, you’ll operate farm equipment as needed, assist the Seed Operations Manager in making agronomic decisions and conduct regular inspections of the crops. Attention to detail is crucial, as you’ll be responsible for maintaining quality control and production records, along with performance metrics.

As the ideal candidate you have a background in farming coupled with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience, which may have been acquired in other industries.  Effective communication and delegation skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software are essential. Experience operating farm machinery related to the planting and harvesting of potatoes or similar crops is considered an asset, as is a valid pesticide license.
