Our client a leader in the production and marketing of forest products is looking for a Plant Manager for their Miramichi, NB location.

The Plant Manager, reporting to the Executive Vice President, is responsible for safety, the reliable manufacturing and ensures that business objectives are met for the Miramichi plant. In addition, the Plant Manager is responsible for fostering an innovative and engaged culture, leading in a high-performance work system, controlling product cost and inventory, and developing future leaders.

Job Duties

  • Head the safety activities of the facility.
  • Monitor and manage key operating measures for the plant, including budgets, productivity, inventories, safety, quality, etc.
  • Engages employees in safely manufacturing oriented strand board (OSB) products that meets customer needs and driving improvement in key business metrics.
  • Monitors capital expenditures, expense budgets, safety strategic plans and performance management plans.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to supervisors and manufacturing team. Drive teamwork among plant employees.
  • Resolve operating, scheduling, and production issues as needed.
  • Establish consistent processes, standards, and expectations for the plant to ensure ongoing performance within company, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Provide leadership for the plant and set an example of proper professional conduct for others.
  • Will require individual to manage time due to office type duties and hands on plant operations & maintenance follow-up and assistance with plant employees.

Job Requirements

  • 10 + years of manufacturing related experience with 5+ years in a managerial/leadership role, preferably in the forest products manufacturing industry.
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • Ability to be a strong contributor to plant management team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of a manufacturing organization
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Computer literate must be familiar with current software such as Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Working knowledge of budgets, inventory management and scheduling.
  • Background with manufacturing methods such as Kaizen or Lean process improvement programs and procedures is a plus.
