The Role Overview
As the Manager of Microsoft Platforms, you will not be managing day-to-day tickets. Instead, you will define and execute the multi-year strategic vision and modernization roadmap for our client’s Microsoft cloud and application environments. You will lead a high-performing, distributed delivery team (onshore and offshore), navigate complex enterprise licensing, and spearhead robust disaster recovery frameworks to safeguard organizational continuity.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Roadmap: Define and execute the multi-year modernization strategy for Microsoft platforms, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational goals.
- Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and direction to technical specialists, fostering a culture of operational excellence, continuous learning, and high performance.
- Solution Architecture: Contribute to high-level solution designs, ensuring technical feasibility, architectural alignment, and deployment readiness.
- Service Delivery: Maintain accountability for top-tier service delivery, consistently meeting SLAs, key performance metrics, and internal customer satisfaction targets.
- Financial & Vendor Management: Develop and manage operating and capital budgets (CAPEX/OPEX) for all Microsoft platforms. Optimize costs through resource rationalization, automation, and vendor/licensing negotiations.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with cross-functional business and application development teams to bridge the gap between technical execution and business strategy.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all platform solutions strictly adhere to cybersecurity best practices, privacy requirements, and industry governance standards.
- Disaster Recovery: Formulate, test, and manage business continuity and “clean-room” recovery plans to mitigate risks associated with downtime, ransomware, or catastrophic data loss.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive experience in application development, platform management, and solution delivery, with a minimum of
- 10+ years of hands-on experience guiding enterprise-wide Microsoft cloud (Azure / M365) and modernization initiatives.
- 10+ years managing complex vendor footprints, utilizing both onshore and offshore delivery models.
- 10+ years driving operational excellence across observability, incident response frameworks, and reliability engineering.
- 7+ years of direct financial ownership over multi-year service contracts and complex Microsoft platform enterprise licensing.
- Proven track record of successfully leading at least one massive, enterprise-wide change or digital transformation initiative.
Assets & Preferred Credentials
- Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) or Scrum Master certification.
- Strong awareness of global IT governance and security frameworks (COBIT, ISO 27001).
